LEED For Homes

Historically a program for commercial buildings like the Clinton Library and the Heifer International headquarters in Little Rock,  the USGBC also offers a LEED for Homes program with levels of Certified, Silver, Gold and Platinum.

LEED for HOMES. requires third-party verification and gives a lot of credit for Energy Star certification points. HERS, Inc. is the certifier of the first five LEED  homes built in Arkansas. Built by the Argenta Community Development Corp., these 1300 sq. ft. homes are constructed with energy-efficient structural insulated  panels (SIPs) and priced under $100,000 suggesting  LEED certification is not prohibitively expensive. The panels are manufactured in North Little Rock by Noark Enterprises, Inc.

In addition, HERS, Inc. is serving as  as the certifier of the first LEED for Homes townhouse development now underway in Little Rock.VERTiCAL loft homes are built using SmartStructures EcoBlock construction.

Another LEED project is CityGrove Townhomes in North Little Rock. Forty-percent of the townhomes will be LEED qualified.
