Going green with your home can mean many things, but, whether it is a new or existing home, being GREEN starts with energy efficiency and energy efficiency starts with a home energy rating by a certified Energy rater.

For a new home, HERS, Inc.™ typically starts with a review of the plans and recommendations for making the home more efficient, affordable and comfortable. Intermediate inspections are provided during construction and a final verification inspection and commissioning of the house is provided at completion.  Testing includes blower door testing for  whole house leakage and duct leakage testing to measure duct leakage to the outside.

With an existing house, going green should start with a whole house, diagnostic energy audit that looks at all aspects of the house ”as a system.” An audit includes prioritized recommendations with estimated dollar savings.  HERS, Inc. can review bids, oversee improvements and, when completed,  test and verify the improvement work was installed as specified.

“You don’t get what you expect; you get what you inspect!”

HERS, Inc. is proud to provide rating services to qualify new homes for the ENERGY STAR® label. ENERGY STAR qualified new homes are substantially more energy efficient than homes built to the minimum code requirements. Even in states with more rigorous energy codes, the U.S. EPA ensures that ENERGY STAR remains the symbol for truly energy-efficient performance. These homes are good for businesses, consumers, and the environment.

All ENERGY STAR qualified new homes are certified to meet EPA’s strict guidelines for energy efficiency. This exemplary performance is verified by an independent third party. That’s us!
